AN OKLAHOMA TYPE OF FOG
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Monochrome, low angle view of a dirt / gravel road in the countryside with a vanishing perspective heading into a dense fog. The road is lined with barbed wire fence on either side. A medium sized bare tree in left frame, and tire tracks can be seen on the road that was still damp from ice the night before. A very common scene all around Oklahoma, but beautiful and intriguing all the same. Shot in Walters, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
DRIFTWOOD RANCH
Click the image or title for fine art prints
View of a fairly secluded section of Waurika Lake at the shore. In left frame the slightly choppy water of the lake is in view with dozens upon dozens of small tree bases sticking up out of the water. In right frame red dirt / clay shore with still more small tree bases in bunches with a heavy tree line in the distance on the horizon. All under bright blue, slightly cloudy skies, with the moon looking down at the whole scene. There are a huge number of lakes, rivers, creeks, streams, and ponds in Oklahoma. While there are a few popular spots that are nearly always crowded, it's actually fairly easy to find a nice, quiet and secluded area like this in nearly almost any area of the state. Each spot has its own unique allure and beauty. Shot in Waurika, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
FOGGY COUNTRY ROAD
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Country road with a pasture on one side, and trees lining the other, with fall / autumn beginning to appear in the fog. Rural back roads are a wonderful place to momentarily get away from the crowds; the hustle and bustle of everyday life; while still feeling very connected to our world, and everything / one on and in it. Looking for beautiful and exotic destinations? Sometimes we just have to look a little closer at our own backyard. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
FOG PUT OUT TO PASTURE
Click the image or title for fine art prints
A rural field during late fall / early winter in the fog. Shot with a vanishing perspective along side a barbed wire fence with weeds growing into it, and a bare tree standing guard. The feeling of peace, calmness, and serenity felt at the time of photographing this scene translates well into this image. The fog seems to produce a feeling of "coziness" and through necessity, reminds us to slow down and appreciate the little things. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
FOLLOW THE RED DIRT ROAD
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Monochrome ground level view of a red dirt road leading slightly uphill off into the horizon slightly visible off in the distance. The road is lined on either side by rural fields, trees, and barbed wire fence. The iron rich soil in Oklahoma makes red dirt a very common sight. One of my favorite types of back roads to explore, because whether a good photograph is to be made or not, it's such a joy to see, and be immersed in, such an abundance of the beauty of nature. CHASING THE FOG
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Ground level, vanishing perspective view of a rural dirt road in the countryside. A fairly dense fog hovers over the horizon, while multiple tire tracks, still filled with puddles from an earlier rain, head into the fog. Barbed wire fence lines the road on either side, protecting pasture land, and a lone tree sits on the right side near the horizon. When searching unfamiliar territory for treasures such as old barns, tractors, and so forth, a photographer such as myself has to decide whether or not the possible discovery of hidden treasures outweighs the just as possible chance of getting stuck on a back road. DESTINATION NOT YET DETERMINED
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Ground level, vanishing perspective view of a lonely country road lined with rural pastures on either side heading off into the fog in the distance. This shot, as with a majority of my work, was the result of just picking a direction and heading down back roads that I had never explored before. This view just seemed to sum up for me what it feels like to explore rural back roads in the fog. As in life, there's just no telling what treasures lie just beyond our line of sight being masked by distance and mist in the atmosphere. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
GHOSTS OF WAURIKA LAKE
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Monochrome view of a section of the lake with a double exposure effect. A multitude of branches are sticking up out of the water and the shore, with even more scattered in lying on the ground. The moon is just visible in top of frame off in the distance, and a line of bare trees can be seen on the opposite shoreline on the horizon. All under partially cloudy skies with wispy clouds spreading across the sky. Shot at Waurika Lake, Waurika, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
FOG TAKES THE SCENIC ROUTE
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Vanishing perspective view of a secluded country road with rural pastures on either side, lined with trees on one side, all under a heavy haze of a foggy morning in Oklahoma. Rural back roads are a wonderful place to momentarily get away from the crowds; the hustle and bustle of everyday life; while still feeling very connected to our world, and everything / everyone on and in it. Looking for beautiful and exotic destinations? Sometimes we just have to look a little closer at our own backyard. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
POSTED
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Monochrome view of a rural field in the fog with a wooden post on the edge of the field in the foreground. A large tree line is slightly visible through the haze on the horizon in the distance. The wooden post has obviously had a sign or signs posted on it at one time or another but they have been lost either to the elements, or vandals. Weeds, grass, and plants are overgrown near the post, but whatever vegetation is in the field is obviously well maintained. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
JUST EAST OF THE DAM
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Selective color (via color revealing brushstrokes on monochrome image) view of the Pensacola dam on Grand Lake between Disney, and Langley, Oklahoma. This is a massive multiple-arch hydroelectric buttress dam, that was completed back in 1940. The dam is such an impressive feat of engineering, architecture, and design. Nothing compares to walking along the top of the dam on the sidewalk next to the road that runs over it, and taking in what pouring concrete 24/7 for 20 months, along with 24 millions pounds of steel and iron can produce. FIELD OF RURAL DREAMS
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Panoramic view of a rural field with multiple hay rolls placed throughout, with a heavy tree line in the background surrounding the pasture. Many of us in this country are accustomed to grabbing whatever groceries we need from a trip to the local grocery store, or even having them delivered, or ready for pickup, with the tap of a button. Allot of us have no clue (or appreciation for) the time, hard work, effort, and resources that go into making that convenience a reality. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
AUTUMN RESTING SPOT
Click the image or title for fine art prints
This wide angle view of the creek in the fog, lined on either side by some bare trees, and others full of autumn leaves, is much like being there. In that, one can come back time and again, and still find something new to discover. Of course, the fog won't clear, and the leaves won't blow away in the image. But, neither will the viewer have to worry about the heavy population of annoying bugs, or stumbling across one of the many copperheads that frequent the area. I must admit that the risks, and inconveniences, are well worth it when weighed against the overwhelming peace, tranquility, and closeness to nature, the way God designed it, that being there in person brings. MAGICAL MYSTERY COUNTRY ROAD
Click the image or title for fine art prints
A lonely country road on a foggy winter morning, with rural pasture land on either side, and barbed wire fence on the right. A lone, bare tree stands slightly silhouetted against the fog near the horizon in right frame. This road stretches for several miles with most of the scenery looking just like this. A beautiful and peaceful little drive on the outskirts of town. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
NARROW IS THE PATH
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Monochrome, ground level view of a paved country road in serious disrepair leading off into the horizon; lined on either side with trees, brush, and heavily overgrown plants and weeds. This road is actually a stretch of the original historic Route 66, making it one of the oldest roads in the country. I highly recommend taking a drive along one of the many stretches of the original Route 66 that are still intact in Oklahoma. I also suggest you take it nice and slow, not only to take in the sights, but to avoid our infamous potholes as well. Shot in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
GREEN COUNTRY PASTURE

Rural pasture during late summer / early fall in the fog. Trees, wild flowers, and other plant life in the foreground, with cattle grazing off in the distance. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
OUTCAST TREE
Click the image or title for fine art prints
A tree stands alone in a field of tall grass in the fog during Autumn. In the foreground, tall grass and wild plants are seen from ground level. Just beyond the tree is a clearing with several small trees, and beyond that a heavy tree line surrounds the wooded area beyond. Everyone has their favorite season for various reasons. I especially love Fall due to the cooler weather, everything feels more calm and peaceful, and the changing colors really showcase the beauty of God's design in nature. SPOT FOR TWO
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Abstract, double exposure view of a handmade, wooden love seat set on a lawn in late Fall. Behind the love seat is a white picket fence, followed by an old wooden coral fence, two horses sharing a meal, and a little further back the lake is slightly visible through the morning haze. Quite the beautiful and tranquil spot to rest, and take in God's creations. Shot at the Dog Iron Ranch, birthplace of Will Rogers, in Oologah, Oklahoma. © 2021 Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
REFLECTIONS OF WINTER
Click the image or title for fine art prints
View from shore of a line of bare trees of winter reflecting in the water of the lake. When we think of history, what often comes to mind is what is written in books, depicted in artwork, and recorded in documentary lyrics. But in this view of a line of bare trees in the middle of the lake, casting their reflections in the water, we are reminded of an additional source of history. The trees, soil, water, rocks, etc.. are living witnesses to a history that most people aren't even aware of. Why not stop, rest, and listen a bit, to what they have to say. SERENQUILITY
Click the image or title for fine art prints
View from shore of a large pond surrounded by trees and plants reflecting in the water on a foggy / hazy morning. A mere few hundred yards from a somewhat major highway that runs through the center of town, this spot is actually very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. It's a great spot to escape the hustle and bustle, even for just a few moments. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
SUNSET FISHING
Click the image or title for fine art prints
A section of Lake Hudson during the golden hour just before sunset. On the horizon a heavy line of trees is in silhouette with small rolling hills behind them. In the foreground the shore is also in silhouette with a couple of fishermen in right frame enjoying some sunset fishing. Shot in Salina, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved
SPILLING INTO FALL
Click the image or title for fine art prints
View of the creek that flows out from the spillway at the dam, shot from the top of the spillway. Reflections of the clouds above can be seen in the water, and the whole area is surrounded by trees and plants all turning color due to the onset of Fall. Shot on a chilly November morning, it got even cooler the closer I got to the rushing water at the top of the spillway, but it was definitely worth it to take in this beautiful view. TAKING THE RURAL ROUTE

A lonely road in the countryside heading into the fog in the distance on the horizon. Wouldn't it be wonderful if every trip could be made down secluded back roads like this. Shot in Waurika, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
SOME YELLOW IN GREEN COUNTRY
Click the image or title for fine art prints
A lush rural field during a light morning fog in the countryside. Shot during the period in September when Summer is ending and Fall is beginning. The trees, grass, and other plant life are still plenty green, with the exception of some yellow added in by the wild flowers that are spread across the area. Shot in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
WAITING FOR GAME
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Small clearing in a meadow surrounded by forest with a deer stand in the lower left frame. Plenty of overgrown grass, weeds, and other plant life are in the foreground, and the whole scene is bordered by a heavy tree-line, all during a light fog in early winter. Processed in a way to give a look of a monochrome image being wiped off revealing the colorful image underneath. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
WHAT MYSTERIES AND WONDERS LIE AHEAD
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Monochrome, low angle, vanishing perspective view of a rural dirt road with barbed wire fence lining either side. In left frame a bare tree stands against a wall of fog behind it leading of into the distance, and pastures surround the country road on both sides. Tire tracks can be seen heading into the fog that hides more tranquil farm land. Shot in Walters, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
WHERE THE RED DIRT ABOUNDS
Click the image or title for fine art prints
A lonely dirt road in the countryside line by barbed wire fence on either side, leading off into winter trees in the distance barely visible through the dense fog. One of the joys of exploring the back roads of Oklahoma on a foggy day is seeing all the beautiful colors, and tones of God's creation blended together in a way that only a good fog can facilitate. WINTER'S SHORELINE
Click the image or title for fine art prints
In this monochromatic view of the lake shore, one can almost feel the cold, and sense the eerie stillness that hangs in the air. Under overcast skies, bare tree limbs are all around reaching upward as if hoping to escape the dreariness that is Winter's Shoreline. Shot in Oologah, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
VISIT WITH THE WIND

An abandoned, rusty, old windmill stands in a field of dry grass where many signs of the effects of the wind over time can be seen if one looks closely. Shot in Pryor, Oklahoma. © Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
UNDER THE RUSTIC MOON

A damaged old windmill missing its, fins next to a heavily weathered old shed, along side a couple of bare trees in a rural field. All under a half moon in the countryside. Shot along Whitfield Road, Comanche County, Oklahoma. © 2024 Rob Heber - All Rights Reserved.
CONNECTION LOST
Click the image or title for fine art prints
Abandoned old bridge partially removed, but still crossing part of the river and reflecting in the water. At one time, this was the only connecting road between Pryor Creek, Oklahoma, and neighboring Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Standing at the end of the bridge, looking down at the few remaining, rotting boards that used to cover the steel beams that made up the road, one is almost overwhelmed with a sort of residual energy surrounding this spot. So many travelers crossed this bridge, leaving a spec of their story behind to settle in with the rust and dust on the now long abandoned pathway. DO HOLD BACK

View of the spillway side of the dam at the lake under ominous looking skies. In the foreground reflections of the flood gates are seen in the calm blue water. The dam runs the width of the image separating the image into 3 sections. In the background rolling hills meet up with the lake shore and the sky holds storm clouds as well as rays of sunshine breaking through in some areas.
